February 4, 2019 – Hans Djurberg, sustainability director for Svenska Cellulosa AB, a Swedish timber, pulp and paper manufacturer, has been appointed the chairperson of the FSC International board of directors.

Djurberg currently serves as a representative of the FSC International Economic Chamber North. At Svenska Cellulosa, his work involves leading a collaborative effort between major Swedish companies to engage more proactively and constructively in the dialogue on forests.

Ralph Schmidt-Liermann was also appointed as chair of the FSC board governance committee. Fran Price will continue as vice-chair and member of the board executive committee.

In deciding on its constitution in 2019, the board took into consideration several factors, like keeping momentum in the current board processes, ensuring a healthy rotation of people and chambers in leadership roles, and maintaining a board succession plan.
