VANCOUVER, BC — University of British Columbia is launching a new on-line course, “Managing Technology for Value Delivery, which centres on how to gain more value from a company’s investment in research. The course is directed to research and technology managers and practicing technology acquisition professionals. Alan Procter, the course’s leader, said, “This course brings together well-honed experience in the management of technology and is particularly relevant, but not limited, to the global pulp and paper sector.” Procter is the former research director of MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. and calls himself a futurist, a field that tries to predict what the future will look like. The course will consider such topics as scenario planning, balanced strategy development, project management discipline, people development and case histories of technology development. The course begins on March 6 and runs for eight weeks. For more information and to register, call Alan Procter at 604-822-5936 or Leslie Whittaker at 604-822-9352.
