Kruger renews lease for Gatineau paper plant

August 12, 2019 – Kruger Inc. has renewed the lease for its Laurier paper plant in Gatineau, Quebec, which will allow operations to continue until 2053. 

The CBC reports that as part of its agreement with the National Capital Commission, Kruger will spend $6 million to turn one of its private parking lots into a new public park.

Kruger is aiming to open the park in 2021.

Its Laurier plant, located on the banks of the Ottawa River, manufactures tissue parent rolls on three paper machines.

Kruger employs 450 people at its Gatineau facilities, which consist of the Laurier paper plant and the offsite Richelieu converting plant.
