December 18, 2018 – Resolute Forest Products is in talks with Repap Resources Group, a private investment firm, to negotiate the sale of Resolute's Fort Frances, Ontario pulp and paper mill, which closed in 2014. 
December 17, 2018 – Canfor Corporation has announced it will be extending its temporary curtailment at sawmills in British Columbia and will be reducing operating hours at some sawmills throughout Q1 2019.
December 14, 2018 – Western Forest Products will sell a seven per cent interest in its Port Alberni forest operation to Huu-ay-aht First Nations in a newly formed limited partnership for $7.2 million.
December 13, 2018 – Kadant Inc., supplier of engineered systems for process industries, will acquire Syntron Material Handling Group for approximately US$179 million.
December 11, 2018 – Buckman, the chemical solutions company, has announced three additions to its leadership team including chief operating officer, chief digital officer and chief information officer.
December 10, 2018 – Mercer International Inc. has completed its previously announced acquisition of Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd. (DMI), which owns 100 per cent of a bleached kraft pulp mill in Peace River, Alberta. The deal was worth $465 million.
December 10, 2018 – Supremex, a North American manufacturer and marketer of envelopes and provider of paper-based packaging solutions, has announced it is cutting 41 jobs at its Canadian envelope operations.
December 10, 2018 – Resolute Forest Products has joined the group developing an action plan for Canadian Institute of Forestry's gender equity initiative for the forestry sector. 
December 7, 2018 – Cascades has acquired two manufacturing plants in the United States for US$37.4 million that will allow the company to double its production capacity of ecological packaging manufactured in moulded pulp.
December 7, 2018 – Northern Pulp has undertaken legal action against the Nova Scotia fishermen that barricaded the Northumberland Strait and prevented its survey boats from assessing the area as a proposed location of an effluent drainage pipe. 
December 4, 2018 – The Nova Scotia government has announced changes to its forest practices that it says will reduce clear-cutting on Crown land, increase ecological protection and biodiversity, and lead the province to a more sustainable forestry sector.

December 3, 2018 – West Fraser has announced it will implement temporary production curtailments over the holiday period at four of its British Columbia sawmills, just weeks after announcing a permanent curtailment at its Quesnel and Fraser Lake mills.
November 30, 2018 – Woodfibre LNG, a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) project on the site of a former pulp mill seven kilometres south of Squamish, British Columbia, has had economic benefit agreements worth up to $1.8 billion approved by the Squamish First Nation.
