Natural Resources Canada announced in February 2014 that the Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) Program was renewed, with an additional $90.4 million. The program is intended help bring the next wave of innovation to market and solidify Canada’s position as a leader in forest industry transformation.

The deadline for submitting an Expression of Interest in IFIT is Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at 17:00 EDT. This is followed by the submission of a complete Proposal Form by Oct. 30, 2014 at 17:00 EDT.

Eligible recipients are companies that produce forest products and own at least one existing forest product manufacturing facility located in Canada (for example; open or closed pulp, paper, panelboard or engineered wood products mills).

The website www.forest-transformation.nrcan.gc.ca provides the necessary information on the application process, including some frequently asked questions. The application process has remained relatively the same as the prior two calls for proposals, with the exception of a new two-phase application process where phase 1 requires the submission of an expression of interest form and phase 2, the submission of a formal proposal.
