NORTHBROOK, IL — When it comes to supply chain management and training, LogicTools Inc., a small Chicago-area company, has carved out a niche in the highly competitive warehousing and distribution software market with its LogicNet package. “Our optimization algorithms set us apart,” said Edith Simchi-Levi, vice-president of operations. The company said that typical savings range from 5% to 15% of current supply chain costs. Founded in 1995, the company specializes in decision-support software that uses optimization technology to address logistics and supply chain problems. The flagship software facilitates decision-making for in-bound and outbound distribution networks. For instance, it determines the optimal number, location and capacity of warehouses, and how to best arrange products in a particular warehouse so as to maximize flow.
