STOCKHOLM, Sweden — The Swedish Pulp and Paper Research Institute (STFI) has been re-created as a shareholder company –STFI AB. As a first stage, the shareholders signed a shareholder agreement with a Declaration of intent and Articles of association as appendices. The shareholders are the government of Sweden (30%, through IRECO — Institute for Research and Competence Holding AB), primary shareholders (54% — AssiDoman, Holmen, Korsnas, Metsa-Serla, Stora Enso and Sodra Cell) and Association of interested parties (16% — ABB, AGA, Albany Nordiskafilt, Eka Chemcials, Kemira, Tetra Pak, Valmet and Trebruk). The board of directors for STFI has been elected. Claes-Goran Beckeman, SCA Hygiene, was elected chairman and Olle Alsholm was appointed president. STFI AB will begin its activities on April 1, 2001.
