On the list of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 for 2014 determined by Women’s
Executive Network are Anne Giardini, former president of Weyerhaeuser Co., and Nancy Marcus, corporate vice-president, consumer marketing with Kruger Products.
Women’s Executive Network (WXN) describes Nancy Marcus as “one of Canada’s most recognized marketing professionals in the consumer packaged goods industry,” and notes her keen strategic insights and bold marketing innovations.
In addition to her role as president of Weyerhaeuser (which ended with her retirement in October 2014), Anne Giardini recently became the Chancellor of Simon Fraser University. A long-time leader within Canada’s resource industry, Giardini serves on the boards of B.C.’s Council of Forest Industries, the Alberta Forest Products Association, the Forest Products Association of Canada, and Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Inc. Giardini is a lawyer by training, and was named one of Canada’s 25 most influential lawyers.
Commenting on leadership, she says: “A leader doesn’t need to have all the best ideas, but she should be able to recognize and champion the best ideas. She should never just show up, but should bring her best energy to bear every day to ensure the success of the organization. She should treat people with dignity and respect both inside and outside of the organization, so that they feel heard and valued.”
Kruger Products’ Nancy Marcus capped 2014 with two coveted industry awards. In addition to being named to the Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards, she also received the Star Women in Grocery 2014 Award which honours excellence in women who are “change agents” and demonstrate exceptional business intuition and leadership.

Marcus has three decades of experience in the grocery and retail business.
