January 28, 2019 – A leadership shuffle at Valmet, developer and supplier of process technologies and automation for the pulp, paper and energy industries, has resulted in two new appointments.

Juha Lappalainen, senior vice-president, strategy and operational development, has led Valmet's strategy and operational development corporate function since 2015. Lappalainen wants now to move closer to the business and will start in a new position in Valmet's services business line as of March 1, 2019.

In his new role, Lappalainen will concentrate on managing strategic projects of the business line, reporting to Aki Niemi, business line president, services.

Due to this change, Valmet will divide the strategy and operational development function so that the strategy function will be integrated into Valmet's finance corporate function, led by CFO Kari Saarinen.

Julia Macharey, currently in the position of senior vice-president, human resources at Valmet, has been appointed senior vice-president, human resources and operational development as of March 1, 2019.

Valmet, which employs more than 12,000 professionals globally, saw net sales in 2017 of approximately EUR 3.1 billion.
