LIVINGSTON, NJ — Franklin Miller Inc.’s powerful shredder combines a dynamic twin-shaft shredding mechanism with easy maintenance. The TM8508 Taskmaster is built with the FMI Cutter Cartridge design, which is engineered for strength, high resistance to cracking and containing a low number of components. The shredder features a proprietary monolithic cutter cartridge design, which consists of an individual cutter and a series of spacer discs combined into a one-piece multi-tooth cartridge. The resulting unit, the company said, “is distinguished with vastly improved strength and resistance.” The cutters are installed on two counter-rotating shafts, each intermeshed at close clearance, to ensure solids are sheared and shredded into fine bits. One of the shafts feeds solids to the unit’s centre, while the other intensively shreds them. Maintenance is made simple by the drastic reduction in the number of components the unit comprises. The shredder, which attaches as an inline unit using flanges to a pipe, can be installed in sewage-treatment plants, sludge lines and small solid waste streams.
