North American newsprint mills operated at 90% of their capacity in August, said the Pulp and Paper Products Council.
Total newsprint shipments were down 1.6% in August, but deliveries to offshore markets expanded 10% year-over-year.
Increased shipments to Latin America and Asia, excluding Japan, more than offset the decrease in exports to Western Europe and Japan.
