John W. Weaver has retired from his position as executive chairman of AbitibiBowater. As of July 1, Weaver stepped down, but will continue to serve as non-executive chairman and a member of the company’s board of directors until March 31, 2009.

Chris Black now holds the position of executive vice president and president of Tembec’s Paper Group. The division consists of three facilities, including two newsprint mills in Kapuskasing, ON, and Pine Falls, MB, as well as the Temboard operation in Temiscaming, QC.

Kleentek has appointed David Beck to senior application engineer. In his new position, Beck is responsible for the sales of Kleentek’s complete line of electrostatic oil conditioning systems in the upper Midwest, AK, and parts of Canada. Additionally, he contributes to service and product development, as well as assisting in quoting all regions of the U. S., the Caribbean, Central and South America. Mike Tompkins has been named vice president of manufacturing of Georgia Pacific’s Wauna mill in Oregon. He replaces James Jordan. Tompkins previously held the position of vice president and mill manager at the company’s Camas mill, WA, and a search is being undertaken for his replacement.

Atlas Paper has named Roberto Gonzalez to the position of vice president of manufacturing. Gonzalez held the previous position of vice president of operations.
