As part of its restructuring, Abitibi-Bowater has reviewed and streamlined the organization of executive responsibilities. According to the company, the new, leaner structure will provide for enhanced efficiency and reduced costs.

A functional approach was taken in designing the new executive team, which will be comprised of five executives reporting to David J. Paterson:

Alain Grandmont, executive vicepresident, human resources and supply chain,

William G. Harvey, executive vicepresident and chief financial officer,

Yves Laflamme, senior vice-president, wood products,

Pierre Rougeau, executive vicepresident, operations and sales,

JacquesP. Vachon, senior vicepresident, corporate affairs and chief legal officer.

Also, as previously announced, Bruce K. Robertson will serve as chief restructuring officer.

Stephen Frasher has been appointed president and CEO of Western Forest Products Inc. Dominic Gammiero, who has served in this position for the last six months while a recruitment process was underway, will continue in his role as chairman of the board.

Frasher has spent most of his career in the transportation industry, most recently as president and CEO of Washington Marine Group in Vancouver. His experience at WMG has provided him with an understanding of the political, labour, and First Nations environment in B. C.
