Dubai, United Arab Emirates — Paper Arabia 2007, the first conference of its kind in Middle East, was held from September 1 through 3 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Center.

The event was conceived to highlight the growing importance of the paper and converting industry in the region, to give an opportunity for manufacturers and suppliers in the paper industry to meet and do business with each other, and to serve as a launching pad for new technologies targeted at the Middle East region. Satish Khanna, General Manager for the event organizer Al Fajer Information and Services, noted “Paper Arabia is a pioneering exhibition covering a wide range of industry products from paper, pulp, paper chemicals to paper marketing.”

Participants included not only those from the UAE, but also from Europe, southeast Asia, and the United States. Col. Mohammad Mubarak Essa Al Abbar, Al Fajer Group Vice President, commented “The significance of the industry is evident from the success of this debut expo which has attracted 120 exhibitors from across the world from 25 countries, reflecting the rising interest in the Middle East and North Africa region as a cost-effective hub for the paper industry.”
