The Chetwynd mill has an annual production capacity of 240,000 tonnes of bleached chemi-thermomechanical (BCTMP) hardwood pulp.
Approximately 80 employees are affected by the transaction.
The purchase adds to Paper Excellence’s extensive holdings in Canada. The multinational corporation also owns Mackenzie Pulp, Howe Sound Pulp & Paper, Skookumchuck Pulp, Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp, Northern Pulp Nova Scotia, and Prince Albert Pulp (non-operating).
Tembec acquired the pulp mill in 2002 from Louisiana-Pacific Canada Pulp Co. and Louisiana-Pacific Ltd.
