Strathcona Paper Co. will sponsor a multi-purpose complex in Napanee, ON, in exchange for 10-year naming rights. The mill agreed to pay $200,000 for the right to call the $8.5-million facility the “Strathcona Paper Centre”.
Strathcona CEO Bryan Best says the decision will benefit the community of 5,000 people, about 200 of which are mill employees. Best says the mill has been around Napanee for 130 years.
Plans for the complex includes a 70-room, $5-million hotel, twin NHL-sized ice-pads, a large community/banquet room, fitness center and sports store.
