PaperWeek Canada, the annual industry conference and trade show in Montreal, is drawing representatives from all segments of the industry. Mill staff, managers, suppliers, researchers, students and job seekers have turned out for the week of activities organized by PAPTAC.

The emphasis on opening day was on innovation, with presentations from the various research networks that make up FIBRE. It was also a day of peer-to-peer interaction for mill operations personnel, with meetings specifically geared to mill managers, paper machine superintendants and maintenance personnel.

On Tuesday, Feb. 5, the trade show opened, with more exhibitors than last year, and with the notable addition of a half-dozen paper companies recruiting through the job fair organized by PAPTAC and FPAC.

The PaperWeek luncheon was filled to capacity on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Keynote speakers Pierre Lapointe of FPInnovations and Theo van de Ven of the FIBRE research network discussed innovation in the industry.
