The Brazilian pulp and paper industry technical association, ABTCP, held its annual meeting and trade show in Sao Paulo, Brazil, October 13 to 16, 2003. PAPTAC and other Canadian organizations were present at their meeting.
The delegation of 13 people from Canada included Glen Black from PAPTAC staff, four people from Paprican, seven from supplier companies and one from a paper producer.
PAPTAC’s booth at the trade show was one of 211 exhibiting companies and organizations. The booth helped to promote an awareness of the Canadian technical association and its activities and events. Paprican also had a booth to demonstrate the high level of science and technology available to the Brazilian industry from Canada.
The suppliers and paper company attendees were able to network with their colleagues from Brazil during the annual meeting, with a view to continuing to develop an increased trade of goods and services between Canada and Brazil.
The four-day technical sessions and trade show attracted approximately 8,000 delegates, who attended to increase their knowledge, and to network with their peers.
The delegation from Canada was also able to visit the Jacarei mill of VCP. This mill produces 3200 tonnes per day of market kraft pulp and writing and printing papers from their eucalyptus plantations.
