PAPTAC will assume the secretariat role for the Eastern Canadian Black Liquor Recovery Boiler Advisory Committee (ECBLRBAC). The pulp and paper industry association will be working with the committee by helping with the communications, marketing and logistics, and providing some of its tools and resources to support the structure and organization of ECBLRBAC.

“We’re very excited to strengthen the ties between both organizations which have common objectives and stakeholders,” says Greg Hay, PAPTAC executive director.

The collaboration between the two groups will take effect immediately and will focus first on helping with the planning of ECBLRBAC’s upcoming meeting, November 18-20 in Montreal.

“We share some common goals and we feel ECBLRBAC will definitely benefit from PAPTAC’s tools and structure. This will help solidify our group and will provide opportunity for greater collaboration in our mutual efforts to help respond to the needs of the industry,” says François Héon of Domtar Windsor and current chair of ECBLRBAC.

Further initiatives stemming from the collaboration will be announced in the future.

The BLRBAC is a committee of industry representatives that exists for the purpose of generating safety procedures and guidelines that govern the operation of black liquor recovery boilers.
