ANDRE LEGAULT was promoted president and CEO of Papier Masson Lte., succeeding ASHOK K. NARANG who retired but would remain as chairman, director and shareholder of the company. Legault was the VP of operations and mill manager. Former technology manager TIM WILSON was named the new mill director.

DAVE INGRAM is now the general manager of Western Pulp Limited Partnership. He was the mill manager of the company’s Squamish pulp mill prior to this promotion, and he was succeeded by BOB RINGROSE.

Tembec appointed TERRENCE P. KAVANAGH as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He serves on the boards of directors of Marathon Pulp Inc., AV Cell Inc., Tembec SA France and Tembec International BV Amsterdam.

Canadian Pacific Railway president and CEO, ROBERT J. RITCHIE, was named 2004 Railroader of the Year by the railroad industry journal Railway Age for “an excellent performance and great leadership despite uncertain times.”

HANS MULLER, president and CEO of Voith Paper and Voith Fabrics and member of the corporate management board, Voith AG, was elected to the board of directors of TAPPI from 2004 to 2006.

MeadWestvaco Corporation announced that LINDA M. SHEFFIELD has been elected to the position of vice president, financial operations and analysis. In this position, Ms. Sheffield will oversee the company’s business analysis, accounting, corporate control and controller activities.

JUHANI POHO, M-real’s Kirkniemi Mill Manager, has been appointed senior vice president in M-real’s Finance and control as of 1 March 2004 and the group’s senior vice president & CFO as of 1 June 2004. As a senior vice president & CFO, Ph reports to the CEO and is a member of the Corporate Executive Board.

The Board of Directors of Bowater Incorporated elected DOUGLAS A. PERTZ to the company’s Board. Pertz, is chairman and CEO of IMC Global Inc. Prior to joining IMC, he was president and CEO of Culligan Water Technologies, Inc.

Bowater also announced that RONALD T. LINDSAY has been named vice president – General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Lindsay, will be responsible for the legal affairs of the company.
