PAUL OLOF MEINANDER, president of POM Technology Oy, received the Marcus Wallenberg Prize, for his innovation that enables smaller water circulations in paper machines, reduces emissions from paper manufacture and conserves energy.

PAUL OLOF MEINANDER, president of POM Technology Oy, received the Marcus Wallenberg Prize, for his innovation that enables smaller water circulations in paper machines, reduces emissions from paper manufacture and conserves energy.

The prize of 2 million Swedish Crown (219,400 euro) will be presented by King Carl XVI Gustaf in an award ceremony in Stockholm in the autumn.

Tembec appointed JAMES LOPEZ as executive VP and president of Tembec Forest Products Group. Prior to his appointment, he was the executive VP, Forest Resource Management, responsible for managing 40 million acres of forest land in accordance with sustainable development principles and obtaining the Forest StewardshipCouncil certification.

PIERRE KARL PELADEAU was appointed president and CEO of Quebecor World Inc. He is replacing JEAN NEVEU, who has served as interim president and CEO since March of 2003.

Doman Industries Limited’s BUD SMITH has resigned from the board of directors. He also served on the board’s Industrial Relations Committee and Environmental, Risk and Public Policy Committee.

MARY GALLAGHER has been named Adhesives Research’s new global VP of Quality and Compliance. In this position, she has responsibility for managing the overall quality systems activities and compliance programs at the company’s manufacturing locations in Glen Rock, PA, and Limerick, Ireland. GREGORY YOUNG has been promoted to Director of Quality and Compliance for the company’s facility at its corporate headquarters in Glen Rock, PA. He is responsible for the management of the quality systems and compliance programs at this location.

PAUL D. WAITE was appointed as CN vice-president of IMX (Intermodal Excellence), an initiative launched by CN last year to improve the quality and efficiency of its intermodal services.

Imerys announces the appointment of RICH RYAN as executive VP of its Pigments for Paper Business Group and as a member of the Imerys Operating Committee. He replaces GERARD BUFFIERE, who was appointed Imerys CEO on January 1, 2003. SUSAN BOSS has taken the position of VP of sales and marketing for North America.
