SCOTT TRAVERS, president and COO of Minas Basin Pulp and Power Company Ltd. in Hantsport, NS, has been elected as Chairman of PAPTAC for a one-year term of office, replacing PETER TYNE of NorskeCanada. Also elected as Councillors are DR. YONGHAO NI, Director, Limerick Pulp and Paper Centre, University of New Brunswick and DAVID WELSFORD, Senior Operations Engineer, Scott Paper Limited in New Westminster, BC. GUY MARTIN, Director, Environment–Paper Manufacturing Group, Domtar, Montreal, QC, was appointed as Executive Councillor.
JAMES WEINBAUER has been appointed senior vice president, director environment at Stora Enso. He will assume his new duties as of April 1st, 2005. Weinbauer holds more than 30 years of experience as an environmental professional in the paper industry.
CHRISTIAN RYNNING has been appointed chief financial officer at Norske Skog.
Badger Paper Mills has appointed JAMES KEMERLING chairman of the board of directors. He succeeds former chairman HAROLD BERGMAN, who remains a board member.
Great Northern Corporation has elected JOHN KELL, president of Kell Container, to its board of directors. Kell, along with his brother, Tom, sold their family-owned company in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Great Northern Corporation on Oct. 1, 2004.
Both brothers continue in active leadership roles.
Norske Skog has appointed SVEIN AURSTAD as mill manager. He assumed the role on February 1st.
BOBBY SAMMONS and DAN TRUETT have been named general managers of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation’s Panama City, FL, and Coshocton, OH, containerboard mills, respectively.
Georgia Pacific Corp. has announced that TYLER WOOLSON, CFO of Consolidated Container rejoined the company as senior vice president of finance and strategy. At the end of February he will also assume the additional title of treasurer.
Voith Paper has appointed a new chairman of the board. ANDREAS ENDTERS is chief executive officer and executive vice president of the company’s paper service division. Endters has also been elected a member of the board of Voith Paper holding GmbH & Co. KG.
Voith Paper has also appointed STANLEY E. BRANDON as senior vice president of its paper service division, headquartered in Charlotte, NC. Prior to his appointment, Brandon served as the company’s Salisbury facility’s plant manager and operations manager. He has been with the company for the past six years.
Hercules Incorporated announced that PAUL C. RAYMOND has joined the company as vice president of Hercules Incorporated and president of the pulp and paper division. Most recently, Raymond served as vice president and general manager of Honeywell Electronic Materials.
