James F. Shepard

will retire from his position as president and CEO of Canfor Corp. in May. Don Kayne has been appointed by the Board of Directors to replace Shepard as president and CEO. Kayne has been with the company for more than 32 years.

Dr. Uwe Liebelt

becomes president of BASF’s paper chemicals division, located in Basel, Switzerland, effective April 1. Liebelt is currently senior vice-president, dispersions & pigments North America, located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mario Plourde

has been appointed chief operating officer of Cascades Inc., a producer of packaging and tissue products.

Elissa Meiklem

has been appointed executive director of The Northern Bioenergy Partnership, an industry-led coalition. Meiklem will be charged with executing the three-year strategic plan to build Prince George and the Northern B.C. region as a forest-based bioenergy cluster.
