Talks to reopen the Prince Albert pulp mill in Saskatchewan are ongoing, a recent report by the Prince Albert Daily Herald confirmed.

“The discussions with Domtar are continuing,” the report confirmed Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall as saying. “Domtar has indicated an interest in a co-managed agreement.”

Wall further said the province might direct some of the $36 million provided by the Federal government to infrastructure upgrades in order to reopen the facility, but that the go-ahead must come from the community.

While the amount of money is not enough to make all the necessary improvements, the province is looking at several priority projects, such as the airport and St. Louis bridge. An additional bridge for Prince Albert is also high on the list.
