PPC is once again proud to announce the winners of the 2005 Safest Mill in Canada contest. Congratulations to Catalyst Paper’s Powell River Division, who secured a first-place ranking. Also deserving of accolades are Weyerhaeuser’s facility in Prince Albert, SK, and Domtar’s mill in Espanola, ON.
It is with our deepest regret that due to a fatal accident at Bowater’s facility in Thunder Bay, ON, the mill was not eligible for participation in 2005. However, we are confident that the tragedy will serve to make the industry re-examine its safety policies and provide the safest of working environments for its employees.
