BOSTON, MA — Watson-Marlow Bredel, a leading maker of peristaltic pumps, offers the heavy-duty SPX pump for critical pulp-and-paper applications. The pump reliably handles abrasive chemicals and solids common to pulp-and-paper processing, and does so with little maintenance, said the company, which added: “Unlike other pump types, highly abrasive chemicals, solids and slurries do not affect pump life.” It can pump such materials as glue, slurry, pigment, talcum, coatings, black liquor soap and lime slurry. The hose pump is almost maintenance-free, as it has no seals to replace, no check valves to clog, and no rotors or stators to wear out. The pumps, which are self-priming, accommodate flow-rates from 0.1 microlitre to 350 gpm, and can withstand pressures up to 232 psi. They pumps contain no internal universal joints, valves, dead corners or glands to impede flow, and they are reversible for back flushing lines.
