In 2011, Resolute announced it would achieve a reduction of 65 per cent in absolute (scope 1 and 2) greenhouse gas emissions by 2015 compared to year 2000 base levels. In 2017, the company said it had exceeded its goal with a 76 per cent reduction. Resolute says it continues to improve its energy efficiency, producing renewable energy and reducing the need for fossil fuels.

The company works within established greenhouse gas reduction frameworks, such as the American Forest and Paper Association’s industry-wide goal of surpassing a 20 per cent reduction in emissions by 2020 based on 2005 levels, as well as the Forest Products Association of Canada’s “30 by 30” Climate Change Challenge and its aggressive objective to remove 30 megatons of CO2 per year by 2030.

The Excellence Awards will be presented in Dublin, Ireland on December 6, 2018.
