June 14, 2017  By P&PC Staff

Jun. 13, 2017 – SCA says it has decided to close its tissue production plant in Flagstaff, Ariz., in an effort to improve efficiency and strengthen the competitiveness for its Professional Hygiene business in North America.

The manufacturer says the Flagstaff closure is part of its Tissue Roadmap and is aligned with the company’s strategy to “optimize the geographic production footprint to drive cost and capital efficiency and further increase value creation in the Professional Hygiene business area.”

According to SCA, the restructuring costs for the closure are expected to amount to approximately SEK 250m. The tissue plant has an annual capacity of 55,000 tons for the Professional Hygiene business. Production will be discontinued this month.
