Amidst news of many closures, strikes and layoffs, Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation has opened its new Smurfit-MBI corrugated container plant in Milton, ON.

The plant employs 100 people and specializes in the production of corrugated packaging solutions. Construction of the 250,000 facility wrapped up in April, and the first production trials and commercial production started in May.
