Sonoco closes its Trent Valley paper mill

Workers finished their final shifts at Sonoco’s Trent Valley paper mill in Quinte West, Ontario on June 12.

The company announced in April that it would be closing the mill, which produced recycled uncoated paperboard and recycled linerboard, due to market conditions that existed before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The closure affects 106 jobs, 81 of which were represented by Unifor.
