In the latest of an onslaught of closure announcements, Sonoco has confirmed its decision to close its flexible packaging plant in Richmond, BC. Although some employees may work into the month of April to help tie up loose ends, the plant will officially shut down by the end of March, 2005. Roughly 67 people work at the facility.

The operation will be fused into the company’s Mississauga, ON, plant. The consolidation is part of the company’s plans to abridge its overall cost structure.
