Ontario-based Strathcona Paper LP has won the 2010 Pulp & Paper International (PPI) Award for Innovative Product of the Year for its GreenChoice 100 product. The award acknowledges companies that demonstrate continuous leadership to support environmental stewardship.

Strathcona Paper’s GreenChoice 100 is the first and only product of its kind in North America made from 100% recycled fibres. It is also recyclable and carbon neutral. Strathcona purchases clean renewable energy to offset energy used in its manufacture.

“We are honoured to be named the winner of this prestigious award”, said Mark Sklar, president and COO, Strathcona Paper. “Since we opened our doors in 1873, our goal has been to create quality products while ensuring we have a positive impact on the environment. Through our rigorous environmental policies and continuous dedication to perfect our process, we have been able to provide our customers – both converters and brand owners — with 100 percent recycled products.”

Strathcona Paper is North America’s only recycled paperboard company dedicated exclusively to the manufacture and supply of medium-to-heavyweight clay coated paperboard for applications that demand high stiffness and strength.
