Port Hawkesbury Paper releases sustainability report

May 8, 2018 – Port Hawkesbury Paper has made significant strides in its sustainability efforts since 2013, reducing is greenhouse gas emissions by eight per cent, decreasing its raw water use by 21 per cent and decreasing its solid waste by 19 per cent.

The reports are contained in the Nova Scotia company’s recently-released annual sustainability report. Port Hawkesbury Paper said it is committed to sustainability issues and feels that the transparent and voluntary reporting of results supports consumer confidence in the company’s sustainability commitment and establishes a baseline for future sustainability efforts.

“At Port Hawkesbury Paper, we focus on innovation and research to develop new ways to reduce raw material consumption, energy use, and waste minimization or re-use,” Marc Dube, business development manager for Port Hawkesbury Paper, said. “We are proud of our accomplishments and have made some significant improvements in mill and woodland operations – impacting both sustainability results and costs.”
