Jul. 17, 2017 - Wood fibre costs for pulp mills in the U.S. Northwest have fallen faster than in other region of the U.S. the past year, resulting in a more competitive industry sector, reports the North American Wood Fiber Review. Despite the recent price reductions in Washington and Oregon, pulp manufacturers in the southern states continued to have lower wood fibre costs than pulp mills in the Northwest, Northeast and the Lake States in the 1Q/17.

May 24, 2017 - Xerium Technologies has been awarded orders for machine clothing and rolls technology for Fibria’s new pulp machine at the Tres Lagoas mill in Brazil. The new machine is scheduled to go online in the third quarter of 2017, adding 1.95 million tons of market pulp to Fibria’s annual production.

May 2, 2017 - Domtar Corporation on April 27 released preliminary results for its first quarter of 2017, pointing to good momentum in pulp markets. The company noted its pulp business is growing having shipped nearly 25 percent more tons when compared to the same quarter last year. When compared to the fourth quarter of 2016, pulp shipments increased nine per cent.
