
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, TAPPI’s Process Control Division has honored Dr. Ian Journeaux with its 2009 Leadership & Service Award. He will receive the award during the PaperCon ’09 conference in St. Louis, Mo., May 31 through June 3, 2009.
A 20-year industry veteran, Journeaux is now manager of process technology at NewPage Corporation in Wisconsin Rapids, Wi. In his career, he has held control systems positions at International Paper, Mead, and Stora Enso. A native of Quebec, Journeaux holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo (1980), as well as an M.S. from The Institute of Paper Chemistry (1982) and a Ph.D. from McGill University’s Chemical Engineering Department (1990). He also completed Louisiana State University’s Executive Management Program in 1995.
A TAPPI member since 1989, Ian has been a committed leader of the PC Division and its predecessor, the Process Control, Electrical and Information Division, where he served as committee chairman, vice-chairman and secretary. He has written and presented numerous papers on process control topics such as paper machine profile troubleshooting and actuator position effects on CD calender control systems.
