Tembec reaches settlement with employees at Matane pulp mill

Production is expected to resume on Sept. 11 at Tembec’s Matane, Que., high-yield pulp mill, now that the company and striking employees have reached a deal. The mill has not been in production since May due to the strike. Employees will return to work gradually, beginning on August 22, and operations are expected to resume on September 11.
The settlement covers a seven-year agreement that will expire in October 2016.
The plant in Matane employs 143 people, of which 99 are unionized, and ships to customers in North America, Europe and Asia. Its production capacity is 250,000 tonnes/year.
Tembec is a large, diversified and integrated forest products company with operations in Canada and France.
