Tembec has received the Conference Board of Canada/Spencer Stuart 2005 National Award in Governance for the private sector. The accolade recognizes the practices of a company that have brought affirmative, calculable results to an organization.

Tembec has been recognized for its establishment of a regional advisory committee in six Canadian provinces and in the areas of the United States and France where it operates. The committees review changes and funding allocation regarding environmental, health and safety, social, public, human resources, purchasing and ethics policy and submit their recommendations to the corporate governance committee of Tembec’s board of directors.
