Tembec customers in Canada and France are about to start forking out a $100 energy surcharge for the company’s products.
No later than October 1, Tembec’s specialty dissolving pulp business will put the levy in place in a move designed to recoup some of its own increased freight, wood and chemical costs.

The company assures the energy surcharge is a temporary measure, and will be adjusted as the price of energy “modulates.”
“We have no choice but to follow the actions of our suppliers and implement a surcharge,” Yvon Pelletier, executive vice president and president of Tembec’s pulp group said of the increase.
