Weyerhaeuser Company has sold approximately 270,000 acres of timberlands to four companies. The transactions included all the company’s commercial timberlands in the state of Georgia. However, Weyerhaeuser will continue to manage a long-term timberland lease covering roughly 34,000 acres. It will also continue to operate its nine facilities in the state.

Although specific financial details were not made public, the company did confirm the sales bordered on $400 million, most of which it will use to pay off debts.
