Members of the United Steelworkers at Tembec’s Pine Falls paper mill have rejected the company’s latest contract offer.
The union notified Tembec that a strike could kick off as early as Wednesday if no agreement is reached before then. The two sides have been trying to hammer out an agreement since January. The previous agreement expired a year ago.
The union is holding out for improved wages and benefits it says ‘fall in line with recently settled labour agreements in the Canadian paper industry.’
