Update: Fatality at Catalyst Paper Crofton
February 1, 2016 By Cindy Macdonald
Catalyst Paper’s Crofton mill was shut down temporarily last week to mourn the death of an employee who died in an industrial accident.
A local newspaper, the Victoria Times-Colonist, says a man in his 60s was killed when the tractor he was driving rolled over near the entrance to the mill.
Eduarda Hodgins, director of communications for Catalyst Paper, explained the temporary closure to the Times-Colonist: “We made the decision because it’s the right thing to do. People are in mourning. There’s been a tragic event and out of respect and honour for this individual and his family, we did that.”
The incident happened near the hog fuel pile sometime in the evening of Jan. 27
