Upgraded version of Environmental Paper Assessment Tool released

An upgraded version of the Environmental Paper Assessment Tool (EPAT), a supply chain tracking tool for paper and paper-based packaging purchases, has been released.

The new upgrades to Version 4 of EPAT feature the latest sustainability indicators, including those related to climate change and the carbon footprint of the supply chain.

The latest EPAT version includes the following updates:

  • Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions:  EPAT now requires reporting of Scope 1,2 and 3 GHG emissions for suppliers.
  • Carbon footprint of paper and paper-based packaging products:  Suppliers will need to upload the carbon footprint of their paper grades to EPAT.
  • Occupational health and safety management system:  OHS systems such as outlined in the ISO 45001 standard are now commonplace in the industry.
  • UN sustainable development goals: As a commitment to sustainable development a growing number of companies are making commitments to the UN SDG’s.

The updated EPAT instruction manual contains the latest methodology for reporting.
