Despite predictions that the start-up of UPM-Kymmene’s Finnish pulp and paper mills would be a difficult conjuncture, production is back to its normal level. The labour dispute, which spanned over six weeks, concluded on July 1st and the mills started back up on July 8th. The mills’ waste water treatment plants have revived successfully and start-ups were controlled.

July 8th also marked UPM’s first export shipments from Finland since the start-up, and liner traffic between various ports is anticipated to return to normal this week.
