The company will establish a new division called Voith Digital Solutions to consolidate all of the group’s know-how in the field of the digital transformation known as Industry 4.0.

Expertise related to automation, software, IT, digitization and sensor technology that is currently covered by Voith’s Hydro, Paper and Turbo divisions will now be consolidated and refined in Voith Digital Solutions.

The new unit’s focus will be on the development of new digital business models for sectors that already exist today as well as for completely new sectors which are not yet being served.

“We are systematically developing Voith to be a company that will play a decisive role in shaping the digital transformation in our sectors and markets,” says Voith president and CEO, Dr. Hubert Lienhard. Voith already provides its customers with digital products and services, Lienhard continues: “For example, we are the first provider to be able to achieve complete digital control of paper production…Appropriate sensor technology, data collection in real time as well as our data analysis know-how is the key. We will now be expanding these services on a large scale. With the help of our new structure, we will also be in a position to provide our customers in mechanical and plant engineering with entirely new system solutions.”
