Voith has installed one of the largest paper looms of its kind in North America, with a width of over 17 metres, at the Voith Paper Fabric & Rolls Systems facility in Appleton, Wisconsin.

The manufacturer says the multi-million dollar investment will allow it to provide perfectly fitted dewatering fabrics it for its customers across North America and worldwide markets.

Voith held an inauguration event at its facility on November 13. “Because of the laminated structure of the woven fabric that maintains void volume throughout operation, press fabrics created on the Infinity loom allow higher running speeds and ultimately result in the generation of more product for our customers,” explains Jeff Berg, vice-president operations, Voith Paper Fabric & Rolls Systems North America.

“The Infinity loom will be used to create a global supply of base cloth material and to support the continued growth of the board and packaging market in North America,” said Richard Berry, senior vice-president sales, Voith Paper Fabric & Rolls Systems North America.

The Infinity family of Voith’s press fabrics produced on the Infinity loom include the ToughLine and FineLine series.

Good thing for the US industry but useless for the Canadian one, had they not closed our plant in Joliette and putting 120 people out of work we would have maybe benefited the opportunity to get that wonderful loom. I am an ex-employee of VOITH FABRIC in Joliette.
