About the speakers

Frédéric Parent

Frédéric Parent, manager, paper and consumer products at FPInnovations, received his M.Sc in mechanical engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1997. He joined FPInnovations as a researcher engineer in 2000 to work on calendering and paper machine runnability. Parent has taken increased responsibilities at FPInnovations, becoming business unit leader of the We and Roll Center in 2006. His work led to the development of FPInnovations’ unique testing services including Roll Testing Facility (RTF), calendering roll surface measurements and tension variation/web stability monitoring in pressrooms. These testing services are being widely used by both member and non-member companies to diagnose and solve paper/board performances problems. He is a member of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC) and the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.

Peter DeNicola

Peter DeNicola manages Honeywell’s Sheet Manufacturing Center of Excellence, a global team dedicated to improving customer operations in pulp, paper, plastic film, aluminum, lithium ion batteries (LIB), and other sheet industries. The Center of Excellence is transforming Honeywell’s QCS portfolio for enhanced value throughout the QCS lifecycle, especially to help customers optimize production as workforce skills decline. DeNicola has been with Honeywell for 34 years and has held positions in sales, marketing, product management, product development, and service. Over his career, he has held positions in both technical and managerial roles, serving QCS, DCS, and MES customers. Prior to Honeywell, DeNicola was an engineer at an integrated paper mill. He holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and is a certified Six Sigma black belt.
