The company plans to implement weeklong shutdowns and temporary reduced workweeks at some of its B.C. sawmills. The closures will come into effect on February 9. The cuts will remove 446 million board feet from the market, in addition to previously announced closures that removed 435 million board feet.

The company has also confirmed plans to scale back production at several of its U.S. South sawmills, curtailing output by roughly 20 million board feet. West Fraser already cut 600 million board feet from its U.S. South facilities.
