An extensive investigation by Environment Canada has resulted in West Fraser Timber Co. and West Fraser Mills being slapped with eight counts of alleged violations of environmental protection legislation. On both a provincial and a federal level, all eight instances of the alleged violations occurred at the Eurocan Pulp & Paper Company mill in Kitimat, BC. The charges include violations of the Fisheries Act, the Migratory Birds Regulations and Migratory Birds Convention Act and the British Columbia Waste Management Act. The offenses ostensibly took place between December 10th and 13th, 2002.
