Western Forest Products recently announced that, after an internal evaluation of its sawmills, it will be closing its New Westminister sawmill on February 7, 2007.

However, this closure will coincide with the reopening of its Saltair sawmill on Vancouver Island, which has been idle since October 2005. The company plans to pour $2 million worth of investments into optimizing the mill’s equipment.
