ALBANY HELPS BURGO SET RECORD
ALBANY, NY — Albany International has announced that a combination of its value-added products has enabled Burgo Verzuolo PM9 to achieve a new production record on LWC. The mill produced 1,634 tonnes within a 24-hour period while enduring only one sheet break. Albany’s VentaBelt and TransBelt process belts, Aerogrip 2000 dryer fabrics and HydroPro press fabrics made up the group of products that accounted for the new record.

IMERYS TAKES A HIKE
PARIS, FRANCE — The 1st of the month marked a price hike for IMERYS’ kaolin products for the paper industry. The increase averaged $15 U.S. per tonne for Georgia kaolins, ?15 per tonne for UK kaolins and $30 U.S. for Brazilian kaolins.
The company cited dramatic increases in energy and chemical costs for the hikes.

ITOCHU GROWS ITS BUSINESS
WHITE PAINS, NY — ITOCHU Chemicals America Inc. (ICAI) has completed its 2005 North American titanium dioxide expansion initiatives. Amongst these undertakings was a name change to ICAI, (in order to define its North American presence), a move to new headquarters in White Plains, NY, the company’s third Ti02 slurry plant in Auburn, ME now produces all grades for paper and paint, a Wisconsin shipping point for tanktrucks was established, amongst others.

BONFIGLIOLI BRINGS HDP TO CANADA
CONCORD, ON — Bonfiglioli Canada has introduced its HDP (Heavy Duty Parallel shaft) speed reducers to the Canadian market. The series can be installed in a variety of configurations, and the power density has been increased. The basic advantages of the HDP reducers are record torque density, high reliability, an increase in options for assembly and attachment, user friendliness and a competitive price/quality ration.

CASCO OPENS APPLICATIONS LABORATORY
WESTCHESTER, IL — Casco has opened a new North American industrial applications laboratory. Corn Products, the U.S. affiliate of Casco, built a 10,000 square foot laboratory to facilitate the development of new applications and products in paper, corrugating, personal care, chemicals and pharmaceutical markets. The lab is housed at the Argo plant in Bedford Park, IL and is designed to provide technical support, training and solutions for North American customers.
CONTRACT
WEYERHAEUSER CONTRACTS ROCKWOOD
ATLANTA, GA — Weyerhaeuser’s Plymouth, NC mill has contracted Rockwood Materials Handling for the design and supply of two Rockwood stacker/reclaimers.
The two systems will replace the mill’s existing manual chip handling system and improve efficiency and chip quality through the provision of fully automated chip storage and reclaim. Cost savings and a fast ROI are also expected to be achieved through the implementation of these systems.
